Two-day trimming course
1. Introductory introduction and theory:
The course begins with a short introduction where participants learn the basics of dog grooming. The theoretical basics will be discussed, such as the difference between trimming and classic cutting, which breeds are suitable for trimming and why this technique is important for coat maintenance.
2. Sample trimming techniques:
We will demonstrate basic trimming techniques on a model dog. You will learn how to properly hold a trimmer or work with your fingers and how to remove dead fur without damaging the dog's skin. We will show you how to recognize the right moment for trimming according to the condition of the dog's coat.
3. Practical part – preparing the dog:
Course participants will learn how to properly and comprehensively prepare a dog after trimming, which includes bathing, combing the fur. An important step is to recognize how to carefully approach individual parts of the dog's body.
4. Individual work on models:
Each participant will receive or bring their own dog, on which they can try trimming with our assistance. We work with different breeds, such as Jack Russell terriers, Griffins or other suitable dogs for trimming. We provide individual advice and tips on how to improve your trimming technique and improve your level.
5. Detailing and Finishing:
Once the basic trimming is done, participants will focus on detailing and final finishing the coat. They will learn how to trim the head, ears, legs and tail to make the dog look its best. We will explain how to schedule trimming for specific breeds and their show standards.
6. Final inspection and evaluation:
At the end of the course, we will check each participant's work, provide feedback and answer any questions. Participants can learn about different types of trimming tools and how to use them.
The entire course takes place in the friendly environment of a dog barber, where participants have the opportunity to become familiar with real working conditions and learn how to effectively trim dogs under professional guidance.
