The aim is to familiarize participants with the necessary theoretical and practical skills to effectively support the main groomer while ensuring maximum comfort and safety for the dogs.
Seminar content:
1. Introduction to the work of a dog groomer and assistant groomer
- Roles and responsibilities of an assistant editor.
- Ethics and standards of working with dogs.
- Practice drying, cutting, shaving techniques and more.
- Working environment in a dog salon and safety principles.
2. Basic anatomy and breed differences
- Basic anatomy of a dog: skeleton, muscles, skin and fur.
- Differences in coat types by breed and their specific grooming needs.
3. Hair care before cutting
- Techniques for washing, drying and combing the coat.
- Preparing the dog for clipping: checking the health of the skin and coat.
- Working with dog cosmetics products and work environment hygiene.
4. Techniques for working with the main editor
- Effective communication with the main editor and taking over tasks.
- Assistance during shearing: holding the dog, handling tools and cleaning the workplace.
5. Caring for your dog during and after a haircut
- Managing stress and keeping the dog calm during treatment.
- Finishing work: final coat treatment, application of cosmetics, keeping the dog clean and comfortable.
6. First aid and safety
- Basic first aid for dogs in case of minor injuries or stress reactions.
- Health and safety protection for both the groomer and the dog.
7. Basics of customer communication
- How to communicate with clients about the condition of the dog's coat and post-shear care.
- Resolving conflict situations and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Course of the seminar:
- Day 1: Theory and basic skills
Morning: Introduction, anatomy and hair care before cutting (theoretical part).
Afternoon: Practical training in washing, drying and combing the coat.
- Day 2: Practical part and assistance techniques
Morning: Training as an assistant – communication and cooperation with the main editor.
Afternoon: Practical assistance in simulating cutting, drying, first aid and safety.
- Day 3: Advanced techniques
Morning: Advanced techniques for cooperation and caring for the dog during the grooming process.
- Day 4 to 7: Advanced techniques for cooperation and care of the dog during the grooming process, practice and practical demonstrations on different coat types and breeds.
Seminar output:
Successful graduates will receive a certificate of qualification as a dog groomer assistant, which will allow them to start a career in this field or join professional dog salons as a qualified worker.
