Full-day practical seminar (minimum 9 hours)
Theoretical introduction:
The course begins with a theoretical part where participants will learn about the different types of fur in dogs and cats. They will learn to recognize which tools are best suited for each type of fur (e.g. combs, brushes, rubber brushes) and how to avoid skin irritation. We will also explain the importance of regular brushing and preventing matted fur.
Demonstration of the correct combing technique:
We will demonstrate how to comb the fur without pulling or pain. Emphasis will be placed on how to hold the tools correctly and how to gradually start to untangle the tangled parts of the fur. We will also show you how to use special sprays or conditioners that make combing easier. You will learn to work gently so that the animal is not stressed and the process is as comfortable as possible for it.
Practical part – preparation for combing:
Each course participant will have the opportunity to try out combing their own or a model dog or cat that has very matted fur. First, the animal will be prepared - you will learn how to recognize the most matted parts of the fur and how to prepare the fur to make it easier to comb.
Gradual combing:
Under supervision, you will begin to work on gradually combing the fur from the ends towards the roots. You will learn the correct pressure and pull to avoid damaging the fur or causing pain to the animal. We will also teach you how to properly approach the most sensitive areas, such as the belly, neck, or behind the ears, where the fur is often the most matted.
Solutions for severely matted fur:
The course will also focus on dealing with extremely matted areas where extra care is needed. You will learn how to loosen the coat without cutting it, using special combs or tools. We will show you which techniques to choose for the most gentle procedure.
Final inspection and care:
After the combing is completed, the coat is checked to ensure that it has been properly and completely treated. Participants will receive advice on how to keep the coat in good condition in the long term and what products to use for daily care. We will explain how to ensure that the coat does not tangle so much and will answer any questions participants may have.
Feedback and final summary:
At the end of the course, participants will receive feedback on their work and tips on how to improve their combing techniques. The instructor will evaluate each participant's individual approach and advise on additional procedures that may be useful in everyday care of matted fur.
This course takes place in a real dog salon environment, where participants learn on real dogs and cats under the supervision of professionals.
